The Nampa Farmers Market is participating in a produce program that provides citizens aged 60 and over with ten dollars in free produce each week during the Winter Market. To participate in the program, which is coordinated by the U of I Extension office, citizens simply need to register at the Market’s information booth. Then, each Saturday, registered participants receive $10 in coupons that can be traded for fresh fruit and/or vegetables from Market vendors.
The Market, which operates in Nampa’s Lloyd Square on Saturdays from late April through October, extended their season by six weeks this year with special “Winter Wonderland” hours. For November and the first two Saturdays in December, the Market is operating from 11 am to 3pm.
The exception will be this coming Saturday, Nov. 27, when the Market will be open from 11 am – 7pm for “Santa Saturday.” The extended hours will enable shoppers to support 50+ local businesses for Nampa’s Shop Small Saturday plus attend the City of Nampa Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at 6pm, which will be just a block away from Lloyd Square.
Additionally, Santa Claus will be at the Market from 1pm – 4pm for free photos, courtesy of Bowermaster Productions. The Market has also arranged for other special guests to be on site throughout the day:
- Spider hero & Rose princess from 12 – 1
- The Ice Princesses from 1 – 2
- The Grinch from 3 – 4
- Chase (from Paw Patrol) from 4 – 5
Special music will be provided by L&J Experience from 11 – 3 and The JB Duo from 3 – 7. Approximately 85 percent of the Market’s regular vendors are participating in the Winter Wonderland Market. Brenda Dietrich, secretary of the Market, says they are excited to be a part of the city’ tree lighting ceremony.
