A popular weekly event at the Idaho statehouse called “Capitol Clarity,” is now a weekly feature on Thursday afternoons at Boise radio station 670 KBOI.
At the beginning of the 2021 legislative session, Lt. Governor Janice McGeachin and Representative Dorothy Moon (R-Dist. 8) decided to invite the public to the statehouse each Thursday at noon for an hour-long presentation to educate the public about pressing issues occurring during the session. The first meeting was held in a committee room, and attendance was greater than expected with a standing-room-only crowd. Because of that, the meeting was moved to the Lincoln room on the Senate side of the building, Attendance at the weekly event has increased each week.
In addition to Idaho’s legislators updating attendees about the status of various bills and giving presentations about activities in various committees, guest speakers have have also given informative talks. Dr. Scott Yenor, a political science professor at Boise State University, presented his report on the increasing number of social justice classes required at the university. Dr. Ryan Cole, M.D., gave several presentations on the Covid situation.
The radio version began on March 18th and will continue each Thursday at 5:00 pm on KBOI in Boise. Lt. Governor McGeachin is slated to be the regular host and plans on having guests each week.
