With the November 5 election fast approaching, the citizens of Ada County are hosting a public debate on Saturday, October 26th from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at the Meridian library on Cherry Lane. The purpose of this event, organized not by campaigns but by Ada County citizens, is to give voters a clear, unfiltered look at the candidates seeking to lead the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a press release, “This debate is more than just an opportunity to hear candidates speak. It is a crucial moment for the community to hold them accountable, asking the tough questions that matter most to the future of Ada County. The public deserves a chance to see how these candidates stand on the vital issues, respond to pressing concerns, and demonstrate their fitness for one of the most critical roles in our county.”
“As citizens of Ada County, we have the right to hear from those who seek to serve us, to scrutinize their policies, and to understand who they are as leaders. The candidates’ willingness to engage in this public forum speaks volumes about their respect for our Constitutional Republic and their readiness to serve. The absence of a candidate could reflect poorly on their willingness to engage with the electorate, a concerning sign for any public servant.”
“Recent history has shown us how damaging it can be when public officials evade scrutiny, avoid debates, or dismiss opportunities for public vetting. The people of Ada County refuse to accept such behavior from our future sheriff. We expect – no, we demand – that those who seek to lead us respect the principles of our Constitutional Republic and stand before us to make their case.”
The public is encouraged to attend and bring friends, neighbors, and fellow voters. Attendees can submit questions beforehand to be considered by the moderators. Anyone wishing to submit a question for consideration can use this link: http://forms.gle/yfnm7uU6ghFFKGZ27
